Our History

HL Engineering Contractors Ltd was founded by John & Penny Haigh back in 1984 a company specialising in the service and repair of coal fired power stations.

Having gained an excellent reputation within this sector, John Haigh was well placed to expand into the steel manufacturing industry.

As soon as John Haigh’s sons left education they too headed into the industry to work along side their father, this enabled HL Engineering to become more diverse and gain a new outlook on the business.

In 1996 John Haigh retired from the business taking a back seat, handing ownership over to his sons Philip and JohnPaul who to this day run the business with the assistance of a well established management team.

HL Engineering deliver not only the core services that the company was founded on but a vast array of services to industry in several key sectors such as Utilities, Renewable’s, Rail and machine manufacturing for the vertical farming sector.
